I really wanted to have brats for dinner since I had made my hand at homemade hot dog buns so I figured what better time than to cook some brats! I was inspired by the Wisconsin Beer Brats by Meggan Hill recipe click on the link. I also made my brats with a side of beer cheese sauce check out my recipe and click on the link.

Ingredients

  • 10 bratwurst raw
  • 1 large onion thinly sliced
  • 4 12 ounces cans of beer (Modelo Especial)
  • 1 Tablespoon chicken bouillon
  • 10 brat buns split for serving
  • Ketchup and mustard for serving
  • Sauerkraut for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat the pot or pan over to medium-high heat. In a large pot over medium-high heat, add brats, onion, beer and chicken bouillon
  • Bring to a boil then reduce heat. Simmer until brats are cooked through. This will take about 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Remove brats to a bowl or platter.
  • Continue cooking onions in beer while grilling the brats.
  • Increase heat to medium and cook brats, keep turning the brats, until browned (this will take about 5 minutes.)
  • Start assembling with any topping you like. Serve in buns.

Notes

This was really good and was easy to cook for a cold night.
