Life Is Too Short To Do What You Hate Make Sure You Are Doing What You Are Passionate About.

I’m going to square with you, I don’t have a backstory where I was some child prodigy or something. There is alot I still have yet to learn about cooking. I never truly learned to cook for myself until my mid twenties when I couldn’t rely on my mom to cook when I just didn’t feel like it. I am no seasoned expert that is going to preach to anyone interested about how I got my culinary degree, cooked for my family, and have always been a faithful foodie.

What I do have is memories. Food has always been something my family and I have in common. We all relished the opportunity to show off our new found skills for get-togethers. I remember sitting around our family table every evening whether it was for a frozen pizza or handmade casserole from my parents garden in Michigan, sharing stories about our day, and waiting for the opportunity to do it all over again.

Food was always something I got excited about on the weekends but my tenacity of wanting to be a professional was taking a dip. When I finally went to culinary school in 2009, I started to realize that my passion wasn’t to be a professional chef. I left the culinary world in 2014. I decided to pursue a career that left me feeling more fulfilled.

Spoiler alert, not much happened for me in the next 6 years. I ate too much fast food, got fat, and never considered the culinary world. Food was still something I felt passionate about to a limited amount however, referring back to my time in the culinary world as though I was some accomplished cook that broke boundaries. I cooked on occasion but never jumped in seriously until recently.

In 2022 while watching one of our favorite animes (that happens to be about food), a spark reunited and I felt myself wanting to experiment. I wondered if the things I was seeing on screen could be re-created. When we finally moved out of that tiny apartment and into an actual kitchen I broke out the old pans and school knife set and set to work.

I knew that I wanted to passionately share what I did know with those who were interested in learning. So here we are with a new website that aims to explore my culinary passions.I have been working hard for the past 2 years to create a blog that shares this messy, passionate, and growing culinary experience with the rest of the world.

My vision on cooking

If there is one thing I hope to accomplish with all of this it is to help others spark a passion for cooking in themselves so they can create stories of their own. To do this I aim to break down culinary content in an easy to explain format that is attainable for everyone, not just avid cooks. My goals for this food blog break down into three main areas:

  • Create: Help users of all skill / interest levels to progress their skills by creating interactive and engaging content.
  • Explore: Explore different global categories of cuisine basics without detracting from user time, budget, and motivation.
  • Inspire: Inspire others to create their own dishes based on a solid platform of cooking knowledge

Life Lessons

For those of you who have read this far, congratulations! For that you deserve some kind of an award. While I can’t give you a cookie, I can offer some life lessons that I have found out along the way!

Lesson #1: Cooking a hot dog in the microwave for 15 minutes does not make beef jerky, it just makes a burnt dried out hot dog.

Lesson #2: Don’t attempt to cut 12 onions in a tiny apartment kitchen, your guests won’t thank you for that!

Lesson #3: Dont cook bacon with your shirt off!

Lesson #4: If you are cooking smash burgers inside  make sure you have every door and window in your house open unless you really really like the smell of smoke!
