Total Time: | Yield: 2 quarts |
Make this homemade raspberry liqueur from your own homegrown raspberries and a good quality vodka for a great gift or liqueur to enjoy by the time the holidays roll around. You can also make it from frozen raspberries if you don’t have fresh. Try adding a little plain or flavored brandy for a unique twist.

Equipment
- Wide mouth Gallon jar
Ingredients
- 2 Quarts Raspberries
- 2 Cups White sugar
- 1 Cup Water
- 750 ml Vodka one fifth
Instructions
- Wash berries and place into a wide-mouth gallon jar.
- In a sauce pan, heat sugar and water to boiling until sugar is dissolved.
- Pour the simple sugar syrup over berries in the jar.
- Add Vodka, gently stir together.
- Put the lid on the jar and place in large brown paper bag. Store in a cool dry area.
- Age for 5 to 6 months, gently shaking the jar about once a week.
- Using a strainer and/or cheesecloth, drain off berries.
Notes
- If desired, the leftover berries can be used to infuse a white fruity wine. I put about 1/4 cup into a cheesecloth bag and pour the wine over to serve.
- Shelf life for this will be similar to other liqueurs.
- Try this recipe with other fresh fruits! I have mixed in some blackberries with the raspberries, or added about 1/4 cup of Kirsch or other plain or fruity brandy and it adds a depth of flavor. Its always delicious!
