This amazing homemade buttercream chocolate icing recipe is perfect on our vanilla cupcakes. Use this chocolatey treat on cakes, cupcakes, or just grab a spoon and chow down (yeah you heard me)! It is super quick and easy to make with few ingredients and is just the best! I have even used this whipped chocolate frosting in my coffee — YUM!

This delicious chocolate buttercream frosting recipe is great on cakes, cupcakes and any other dessert you need a rich creamy chocolate frosting on! With a short list of ingredients its quick and easy to whip together!

Ingredients
- 2 ¾ cups Confectioners sugar
- 6 Tablespoons Unsweetened cocoa powder
- 6 Tablespoons Unsalted butter at room temperature
- 5 Tablespoons Evaporated milk at room temperature
- 2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl with a hand mixer, whip the butter with the vanilla till smooth. In a separate small bowl, stir together the confectioners sugar and cocoa powder.
- Alternately add the sugar mixture and evaporated milk, continuing to mix after each addition. Continue to mix till smooth.
- Put into a piping bag and allow to cool down in the fridge for about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Use whatever tip you want to carefully pipe the frosting.
Notes
- You can use either Dutch process cocoa or natural cocoa powder for this recipe.
