Ingredients

  • White Cake Ingredients or you can use a yellow cake mix too
  • 1 Package White or Yellow cake mix
  • 3 Large eggs
  • 1 Tablespoon All Purpose Flour
  • ½ cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 cup Water or Whole Milk
  • Optional Food Dye - Green
  • Chocolate Ingredients
  • 1 Package Chocolate cake mix
  • 3 Large eggs
  • 1 Tablespoon All Purpose Flour
  • ½ cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 cup Water or Whole Milk
  • Frosting
  • 1 Cup Unsalted Butter Softened 2 sticks of butter
  • ½ Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • ½ Cup Heavy Cream or milk or water, heated
  • 1 1/2 Cups Powdered Sugar
  • 4 oz. Chocolate bar - with cocoa butter or semi-sweet baking bar, melted and cooled

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease your cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the white (or yellow) cake mix, eggs, flour, oil, and water or milk until smooth. If you want a colored batter, add green food dye and mix well, then set aside. In another bowl, mix the second cake mix with eggs, flour, oil, and water or milk until smooth, then stir in chocolate chips or cream cheese chips of choice.
  • Spoon alternating amounts of the white and chocolate batters into your prepared cake pan(s) or 9x13 baking sheet. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl them together to create a marble effect, being careful not to overmix.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely before frosting.
  • To make the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy, then mix in the cocoa powder. Slowly add the heated cream (or water) and stir until smooth.
  • Gradually beat in the powdered sugar.
  • Slowly melt the chocolate bar or semi-sweet chocolate chips in 30-second intervals.
  • Then mix in the melted and cooled chocolate bar until the frosting is rich and glossy.
  • Spread the frosting over the cooled cake, slice, and enjoy!

Notes

  • I just did this for my friends birthday she wanted both a vanilla cake and chocolate and this was perfect! It made 2 cakes so we had enough for the day and sharing a slice with everyone.
