Easy Calzones

Have pizza dough and don’t want a pizza? Try this Calzone recipe -- you can add whatever fillings you have handy.
Ingredients
- 1 box Pizza dough mix or your homemade dough
- 1 jar Alfredo sauce
- 2 cups Cooked chicken chopped
- 4 tbsp Chef Shamy Garlic Parmesan Basil Butter or homemade
- 1 pkg Shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Turn on the oven to 475F. Lightly spray a baking pan with nonstick spray.
- Stir together pizza dough according to package instructions. Roll out the dough (or use your own homemade dough) and form it into a circle.
- Spread Alfredo sauce onto the circle of dough. Add your choice of chopped ingredients: chicken, mozzarella cheese, etc. onto one half of the dough.
- Then flip over the other half onto the filled section to make a half-moon shape.
- Crimp the edges together with a fork to make sure its sealed.
- Cut 3 to 4 small slits on top to allow air to escape while cooking.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes at 475F.
- When finished baking, brush with the garlic parmesan basil butter.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- We have tried this recipe many different ways and its delicious every time. Whatever sauce or ingredients you use always makes a good calzone. Its like a pizza -- anything and everything is good on it!
- You can try this with a traditional red pizza sauce and other fillings such as cooked Italian sausage, mushrooms, peppers, onions, pepperoni --the list is endless!
- This would also be great with the Alfredo sauce and scrambled eggs and cheese as a breakfast calzone!
