Turn on the oven to 475F. Lightly spray a baking pan with nonstick spray.
Stir together pizza dough according to package instructions. Roll out the dough (or use your own homemade dough) and form it into a circle.
Spread Alfredo sauce onto the circle of dough. Add your choice of chopped ingredients: chicken, mozzarella cheese, etc. onto one half of the dough.
Then flip over the other half onto the filled section to make a half-moon shape.
Crimp the edges together with a fork to make sure its sealed.
Cut 3 to 4 small slits on top to allow air to escape while cooking.
Bake for 8-10 minutes at 475F.
When finished baking, brush with the garlic parmesan basil butter.
Serve and enjoy!
Notes
We have tried this recipe many different ways and its delicious every time. Whatever sauce or ingredients you use always makes a good calzone. Its like a pizza -- anything and everything is good on it!
You can try this with a traditional red pizza sauce and other fillings such as cooked Italian sausage, mushrooms, peppers, onions, pepperoni --the list is endless!
This would also be great with the Alfredo sauce and scrambled eggs and cheese as a breakfast calzone!
