Cream Cheese Frosting

This cream cheese frosting is wonderful on our pumpkin cake recipe which can be foundĀ here. It is a classic that tastes amazing on a lot of different types of cakes, or even brownies or cookies!
Equipment
- 1 mixing bowl
- hand mixer
Ingredients
- 8 oz block cream cheese softened to room temperature
- 1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter 1 stick, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1-1/2 Cup Powdered sugar
- Pinch Salt if desired
Instructions
- In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth.
- Add butter to cream cheese and continue to mix until smooth.
- Add vanilla, sugar and salt if desired and mix until smooth.
Notes
- You can omit the salt if you want, but we think it helps enhance the cream cheese flavor and helps balance the sweetness of the frosting.
