This cream cheese frosting is wonderful on our pumpkin cake recipe which can be foundĀ here. It is a classic that tastes amazing on a lot of different types of cakes, or even brownies or cookies!
Equipment
1 mixing bowl
hand mixer
Ingredients
8ozblock cream cheesesoftened to room temperature
1/2CupUnsalted Butter1 stick, room temperature
1teaspoonVanilla extract
1-1/2CupPowdered sugar
PinchSaltif desired
Instructions
In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth.
Add butter to cream cheese and continue to mix until smooth.
Add vanilla, sugar and salt if desired and mix until smooth.
Notes
You can omit the salt if you want, but we think it helps enhance the cream cheese flavor and helps balance the sweetness of the frosting.
