- 1 cup Butter melted
- 1 cup White sugar
- 1 cup Packed brown sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon Baking soda
- 2 teaspoons Hot water
- ½ teaspoon Sea salt
- 3 cups All-purpose flour
- 2 cups Semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup Nuts optional
Instructions
- Slightly cool the melted butter, and make sure your eggs are at room temperature.
- Preheat the oven to 350° degrees. Lightly spray cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
- In large bowl, beat butter, white sugar, and brown sugar together with an electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs, one at a time, then add in the vanilla.
- In a small bowl, dissolve baking soda into hot water. Add to batter along with sea salt.
- With a wooden spoon, stir in flour till all incorporated. Then add chocolate chips and nuts.
- Place spoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets.
- Bake in the preheated oven until edges are just barely browning, about 10 minutes. Or until it smells like the cookies are done.
- Cool on the baking sheets briefly before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Store in an airtight container or serve immediately with some cold milk and enjoy!
Notes
- The nuts can be omitted if desired.
- The melted butter in this recipe helps make the cookies more hydrated, and works better for us since we live in a high-altitude state. If making at a lower altitude, you may find it works better to have the butter softened but not melted.
