Best easy rice dish to make for on the go snack, or a fun dinner as you watch some anime.
Equipment
1 Instant Pot
Ingredients
3 ½cupsCooked Japanese short-grain rice*
¼cupbrown rice miso
1-2teaspoonssalt
Cooked baby bella mushroom 2 cups
Cooked seasoned pork
Colby jack cheese cut into cube shapes
American Cheese or smoked gouda cheese
Optional 4-5 nori sheetscut into thirds or strips
Optional sesame
Instructions
Follow the instructions in our sushi rice post.
Keep rice warmed while you assemble the rest
Add the cooked mushroom to the cooked rice and add 1 tbsp of miso to add back the flavor
Stuff in the pork and cheese of your choice.
Style the onigiri as you want, if you want more cheese, less meat do so.
I used an onigiri mold for each one to hold the shape better after everything is stuffed
Wrap with the nori sheets around it, and top it with sesame for added crunch.
Notes
The onigiri mold was a lifesaver, and made making these in batches much easier. We were feeding about 5 to 6 people and wanted it to be kinda a make-your-own with your own flavors and choices. This was easy to use and very good.
